Dr. Md. Abu Sufiun is currently working as Director, Department of Livestock
Services, Bangladesh. He is working in the department last 23 years for different
position starting from scientific officer, upazila livestock officer, district livestock
officers and principal scientific officer. He did his PhD from Kagawa University,
Japan. He has 16 publications in national and international journal. Ha has vast
experience as a World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) focal points for
veterinary medicinal products. He already joined different international conference
in eight countries.
Mr. Jahidul did his graduation in Forestry from Khulna University and Masters in Forestry from Chittagong University. He did PGD in Advanced Wildlife Management from Wildlife Institute of India. He started working in Bangladesh Forest Department in 2003 as Assistant Conservator of Forests.
A dedicated forester of Bangladesh Forest Department, Mr. Jahidul has keen interest on wildlife and biodiversity conservation. He earned his reputation to work as a team leader of first camera trapping tiger estimation program in Bangladesh Sundarbans in 2015. Nr. Jahidul is now leading the National Technical Advisory Committee on SMART in Bangladesh.
Mr. Jahidul is working as a country focal person of various International Organization including Global Tiger Forum, Program of Works on Protected Area of CBD, Asian Protected Area Partnership Program (APAP) and East Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership Program. Recently he has been selected as a bureau member of UN CBD SABSTTA (Subsidiary Body of Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice) from the Asia Pacific Region.
This is Dr. Jobaida Khanam, Government employee. worked as a veterinarian for the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) for the past ten years. Recently did her second MSc in applied veterinary epidemiology through One Health Institute in collaboration with GHD (Global Health Development) and CVASU (Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University) and the first cohort of the FETPV program. Achieved first place in her master’s degree in Veterinary Microbiology in 2011 (CGPA: 3.96 out of 4.00) and second place in my bachelor’s degree in 2009 (DVM, CGPA 3.78 out of 4.00) from Hajee Mohammod Danesh Science and Technology University. Basically, she is now working as a Veterinary Epidemiologist and her present workplace is at One Health Secretariat, IEDCR.
Dr Mohammad Mushtuq Husain is one of the founder member of One Health Initiative in Bangladesh since 2007 in National Coordination Committee. He is now Scientific Secretary of NCC.
He joined Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) as Senior Scientific Officer at Department of Medical Social Science in 1993, was Head of the Dept and Principal Scientific Officer from 2011 until retirement in 2016. He was intimately involved in surveillance, outbreak response, planning, Course Coordinator of Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) and Improving Public Health Management for Action (IMPACT), research, represented IEDCR in many international forums. Dr Husain worked as a member of Incident Management System at IEDCR during COVID-19 pandemic. He is also a reputed expert in risk communication and community engagement (RCCE), infodemic management.
After retirement he continues with IEDCR as an Adviser. He worked and continues as an Independent Consultant of WHO, FAO, US CDC, World Bank, USAID, CDC Foundation, Global Fund. He developed National Action Plan for Health Security, National Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for Bangladesh, Pandemic Fund proposal for Bangladesh; now engaged in updating Bangladesh One Health Strategy, Policy Forum on Public Health, Pandemic Preparedness, RCCE.

Research interests in Tropical Medicine since 1978: Malaria, Organophosphorus Compound Poisoning, Snake Bite, Nipah Infection, Kala Azar, Tuberculosis. Total number of publications 329 including 136 articles on malaria.
Other key achievements:
Served as Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research in Bangladesh for about twelve years. Devoted 36 years to epidemiologic and public health research. Retired from government service, and currently, serving as the Country Director, EMPHNET, Bangladesh.
Played key facilitator role in establishing the National Influenza Center, BSL 3 and Nipah laboratory, Web based disease surveillance, Nipah, Event based and, cell phone based surveillance in Bangladesh. Played active role in institutionalization of ‘One Health’ in Bangladesh. Led the 2009 H1N1 pandemic response in Bangladesh.
Served as a member of the IHR (2005), and Pandemic Influenza Review Committee at WHO HQ in Geneva, Chair, and Member of Advisory Panel on PIP Framework to the Director General-WHO and member of the Emergency Committee on MERS-CoV, and Ebola Viral Disease. Also served as a member of the National Technical Advisory Committee on COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
Currently, serving as the Chair of the SEAR Certification Commission, Member Global, and EMR Certification Commission for Polio Eradication, member of the Emergency Committee on events related to Poliomyelitis, taskforce member of the WHO’s Nipah virus R&D, TAG member of APSED, and Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR) and SAC member of CEPI. Authored 178 research publications and studies including 142 publications in peer reviewed journals. Earned Masters in Primary Health Care Management from Mahidol University, Thailand and Ph.D in Epidemiology from University of Cambridge, UK.
S. M. Sabrina Yesmin was born on 07 August 1984. She earned her M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology from Rajshahi University. Subsequently, she completed an MBA in HRM from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and an MPH in Epidemiology from North South University.
Ms. Yesmin joined the Directorate General of Drug Administration on 28 February 2013, where she actively participates in activities related to new drug and medical device registration, as well as clinical trial oversight. She served as a Fleming Fund AMC/AMU surveillance fellow and contributed to AMR policy-making and the development of awareness materials.
Additionally, she holds the position of Member Secretary for the Taskforce to monitor Antimicrobial Consumption (AMC) / Use (AMU) surveillance in Bangladesh. As the National focal point on Antimicrobial Consumption (AMC) Surveillance in Bangladesh, she played a crucial role in conducting the Antimicrobial Consumption (AMC) Surveillance and reporting to the WHO-GLASS platform.
Dr. Abu Nasar Md. Aminoor Rahman is the Professor of Reproductive Biotechnology, Immunology and Wildlife Conservation, Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Reproductive Health (GOR), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU). Previously, he acted as Library Chief, Director of Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Outreach Center, Head of 7 departments of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (FVMAS). He was the founder Dean of FVMAS and member of the Syndicate. Before joining BSMRAU, he served Bangladesh Open University and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) as a faculty.
Professor Rahman obtained DVM and MS from BAU. He also obtained MVSc (Reproductive Immunology) from University of Melbourne, Australia (2002) and PhD (Reproductive Biotechnology) from University of Malaya, Malaysia (2008). His MS, MVSc and PhD theses were focused on the reproductive biology, immunology and biotechnology of birds and small ruminants. He received extensive training in wildlife conservation and management from India (2020); medicine and surgery of small animals and birds, and immunobiology from University of Guelph, Canada (1998).
Dr. Rahman played the vital role in establishing FVMAS at BSMRAU. His research focuses on biodiversity, breeding ecology and conservation of wildlife, reproductive biotechnology and immunobiology of livestock and wildlife, and alternative poultry production. He authored and co-authored 56 journal papers, 21 books and a number of scientific communications spanning biodiversity, wildlife, reproductive biology, immunology and biotechnology, veterinary medicine, livestock and alternative poultry.
Dr. Rahman is a columnist of leading national newspapers and is actively involved in writing, nature photography, and conservation of nature and. He received many awards including Butterfly Media Award (2023), Conservation Media Award (2023), Fellowship Award of ZSB (2022), Best Oral Presentation Award (Malaysia, 2007), Graham Jackson Memorial Award (Australia, 2001), University Prize, Chancellors Gold Medal etc.
Dr. Md Golam Azam Chowdhury, Principal Scientific Officer, Central Diseases Investigation Laboratory, 48 Kazi Alauddin road, Dhaka is a member of the BCS (Livestock). Dr. Chowdhury joined the civil service (Department of Livestock Services) in 1999 through 19th BCS. He came from Panchbibi Upazila of the Joypurhat District. Dr. Chowdhury completed his graduation in the field of Veterinary Science in 1992, Master of Science (Pharmacology) in 1994 from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. He also completed his Ph.D. on Leishmania from the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Bangladesh Agricultural University in 2014. He spent about 15 years for livestock extension, Disease diagnosis and treatment services at field levels and Central Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Chowdhury is involved in microbiological research and Laboratory services for approximately another 15 years. Currently he is involved with microbiological analysis of AMR, Zoonosis, Bacterial and Viral Diseases of livestock and has knowledge on risk assessment of microbiological laboratories. Dr. Chowdhury is the head of the Central Disease Investigation Laboratory and Antimicrobial Resistance Reference Laboratory (Surveillance) for Animal Health in Bangladesh. Dr Chowdhury participated a good number of trainings, seminars and workshops in country and abroad. He has more than 25 research publication in national and international journals.
I (Dr. M. Salim Uzzaman) am Physician Scientist with specialized training on Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs) and One-Health. I was former Principal Scientific Officer (PSO), Department of Zoonosis at Institute of Epidemiology, Disease control and Research (IEDCR), DGHS, MOHFW. I have more than 30 years’ experience in the Heath Cadre Services under the MOHFW, GoB. I served as General Secretary of One Health Bangladesh (OHBD) from 2015-2023. At present I am member National Coordination Committee, OHBD. My specialization and post-grad training is on infectious disease and Tropical medicine epidemiology.
I have done my Medical Graduation from Sylhet Medical College in 1988 and Post-graduation from UK and Thailand Health Policy, Planning & Financing and Tropical Medicine Epidemiology & Infectious Diseases respectively. My specializations includes Health Security & Emergency Response, Diseases Surveillance, IHR and Workforce capacity developments. I was Program coordinators, for the IEDCR-US CDC Cooperative-agreement for GHSA-Action Package implementation. I am also actively involved with IEDCR-AMR Surveillance. I representative IEDCR-DGHS for the Zoonotic disease GHSA- Action Package at many occasions. I have vast experience of working with National / Government agencies like, DGHS, DLS, BFD, OHS, FSA and DP’s e.g.; WHO, US-CDC, UNICEF, FAO, Eco-Health Alliance and others.
Mr. Imran Ahmed born in September, 1975 in Bangladesh, is currently working as Conservator of
Forests, Wildlife and Nature Conservation Circle of the Forest Department, Government of Bangladesh.
He is the additional Chief Wildlife Warden of Bangladesh and Alternate Management Authority of CITES
(The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). He is a
recognized professional on wildlife and natural resources management, forest management planning
and forest policy. Imran earned master’s degrees from Aligarh Muslim University, India (Botany with
specialization in Genetics and Plant Breeding) and Master of Forestry from Chittagong University,
Bangladesh. He has been working on issues related to sustainable development and the environment
throughout his academic and professional career. He served in the US Forest Service as local liaison,
Bangladesh in the years 2013-15. He designed and implemented several local and international trainings
and workshops such as “SAARC training on designing good protocols for fisheries management” and
“Measurement and estimation of Carbon stock in mangrove forests of south Asia” where forest and
fisheries officers of different SAARC countries attended. His specialization areas include a. Wildlife and
Natural Resources Management, b. Social Forestry, c. Ecosystem services d. Watershed Planning and
management. Mr. Ahmed has been the contact person for the Asia Pacific Forestry Network (APFNet)
since 2016. He attended many training programs arranged by the APFNet and also served as a resource
person in some of these training programs.
Dr. Nazneen Akhter, a medical graduate also expert in Public Health Policy, Planning, Research, and HSS. She has completed her PhD in Bioethics, Sustainability & Global Public Health from the USA, an MSc. in Health Policy Planning & Financing from LSE, a Diploma from LSHTM, University of London, an MPH from NIPSOM, Dhaka University, and an MBBS from SOMC, Chittagong University. She has also completed Leadership Fellowships from Goodenough College UK, Uppsala University, Sweden, and Asian Health Institute, Japan.
With over 28 years of experience in the NGO sector, Dr. Nazneen has worked in leading positions for organizations such as Terre des Hommes Netherlands, Bangladesh Women’s Health Coalition, HIV/AIDS & STD Alliance Bangladesh, Friendship Intl, and Oxford Policy Management (OPM Bangladesh). She has also worked in the government system as a Technical Coordinator (Sr. Technical Advisory role) in IEDCR and as a Technical Advisor at GHDIEMPHNET and IEDCR Bangladesh, also Founder & MD of VAALO avant-garde Ltd. Dr. Nazneen is also a Sr. Faculty at North South University, Dhaka, engaged in an academic role since 2011. Dr Nazneen is one of the contributors in promoting One Health since its inception and currently a member of NCC, One Health Bangladesh.
Dr Kazi Mohammad Hassan Ameen a medical graduate with a Master of Public Health (Community Medicine) under his belt, is a passionate supporter of “One Health.” His path emphasizes the connection between animal health, human health, and environmental well-being by fusing medical knowledge with public health understanding. As an enthusiastic supporter, Dr Ameen regularly participates in cross-disciplinary projects that tackle global health issues. He demonstrates the concepts of “One Health,” promoting a better future for ecosystems and communities alike, with a dedication to all-encompassing solutions.
Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mannan has been working as an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology under the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Bangladesh since December 2018. Dr. MA Mannan completed his doctoral studies from Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) in 2017. He has completed his MS degree in Microbiology from Bangladesh Agricultural University. He completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from CVASU in 2007. After completing graduation, he worked at the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI), the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), and 2 renowned private sectors like MM Agha Limited and Mega Group in Bangladesh.
As an Assistant Professor, he brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to SAU. He is committed to fostering the next generation of scientific minds, imparting his expertise through engaging lectures, research, networking, mentorship, hands-on laboratory experiences, and training. He has supervised five and co-supervised four MS students. Recognized for his outstanding contributions, Dr. MA Mannan has authored 17 peer-reviewed research articles in reputed journals. He has completed seven most demanding research projects in time till now. He has enough expertise in microbiological research, disease surveillance, and policy making.
Dr. Sajeda Sultana is now an Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology under the faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. Before that, she worked as a Veterinary Surgeon in the Department of Livestock Services at 27th BCS cadre. She obtained Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), an MS in Pathology and a PhD in Pathology from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh. She completed the post-graduate diploma on Avian Diseases conducted by Ecole Nationale Veterinaire of Alfort & France & SAU, Dhaka in 2017. She published 19 proceedings and 15 original research articles in peer-reviewed journals. She awarded as the best Poster Presenter at 26th International BSVER conference. Her research interests are gross & histopathology, vaccine biotechnology, molecular diagnostic pathology, zoonotic and emerging infectious diseases etc. She has several published research papers on zoonotic and emerging infectious diseases in animals. She also works as a Resource person in the Food and Agricultural Organisations (FAO). She is an executive member of Bangladesh Veterinary Association and World Veterinary Poultry Association of Bangladesh. She also engaged as a life member of different professional forums Bangladesh Society for Safe Food, Bangladesh Veterinary Pedagogy Forum and Bangladesh Veterinary Council etc.
